What a fund partner’s post teaches every founder
Tom’s two-line post about pitch decks reached 1.1 million people. It works because it gives one instruction, and nothing else.

The post we’re taking apart
One instruction, nothing else
Most advice posts give five tips. Tom gave one, in two words: swap them. It’s easy to remember, easy to act on, and easy to argue with, which is exactly why it spread.
Why short posts need more editing
The first draft was eight paragraphs about how investors read decks. We kept cutting until only the instruction was left. Short posts look effortless, but they are the hardest ones to write.
The post stayed pinned for three months and still brings Tom around 15 founder DMs a month.
